Construction Desert Schools (CDS) is organised and operated by SCPM Training and Consult L.L.C, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. For the personal information described in this policy, SCPM acts as the organisation responsible for deciding how and why that information is processed.

2. Scope
This policy applies to personal information collected through the CDS website, application and contact forms, newsletter subscriptions, programme registration, partnerships, events and related communications.
3. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with CDS, we may collect:
• identity and contact information, including name, preferred name, email address, telephone number, nationality and country of residence;
• professional information, including employer, job title, industry, years of experience and LinkedIn profile;
• application and programme information, including objectives, areas of interest, visa-support requirements and participation preferences;
• limited health and safety information that you choose to provide, including dietary requirements, allergies and emergency contact details;
• communication information, including enquiries, correspondence, feedback and partnership or sponsorship interests;
• marketing and networking choices, including newsletter preferences and whether you agree to inclusion in a participant networking directory;
• technical information generated when the website is used, such as IP address, device and browser information, pages visited and cookie choices, where available through website and analytics services;
• payment and transaction records where programme fees are paid. Payment-card information should be processed by the relevant payment provider and is not intended to be stored directly by CDS.
4. How we use personal information
• to respond to enquiries and provide requested information;
• to assess applications and administer registration, payment, attendance and participant support;
• to arrange programme logistics, including visa-support documents, dietary arrangements, safety planning and emergency contact procedures;
• to communicate programme updates, schedule changes and operational information;
• to manage sponsorships, partnerships, faculty and speaker relationships;
• to send marketing communications where permitted and to honour unsubscribe requests;
• to operate the participant networking directory where the participant has chosen to be included;
• to maintain website security, prevent misuse and improve website and programme performance;
• to comply with legal, regulatory, accounting and dispute-resolution obligations.
5. Lawful grounds
We process personal information only where a lawful ground applies. Depending on the activity and applicable law, this may include consent, steps taken at your request before entering an agreement, performance of an agreement, compliance with legal obligations, protection of vital interests, or legitimate interests that do not override your rights.
Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.
6. Sensitive information
Dietary, allergy and other health-related information is collected only where relevant to participant welfare, safety and programme arrangements. Please provide only information necessary for those purposes. Access is restricted to people and service providers who need it for the relevant arrangements.
7. Sharing information
We may share personal information only where reasonably necessary with:
• authorised SCPM personnel and programme organisers;
• website, hosting, form, communications, email, payment, analytics and other service providers acting on our instructions;
• venues, transport providers, catering providers, insurers, medical or safety personnel where needed for programme delivery and participant welfare;
• programme partners, sponsors or other participants only where there is a lawful basis and, where required, your choice or consent;
• professional advisers, regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or other authorities where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights.
We do not sell personal information.
8. International transfers
Because CDS serves an international audience and uses service providers that may operate in other countries, personal information may be processed outside the country where it was collected. Where required, we use appropriate contractual, organisational or legal safeguards for such transfers.
9. Retention
Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including programme administration, participant support, legal, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements. Information that is no longer required is deleted, anonymised or securely archived in accordance with applicable obligations.
Marketing information is retained until you unsubscribe or object. Health, dietary and emergency information is reviewed after the programme and removed when it is no longer required for safety, legal or operational purposes.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, loss or destruction. No online system can guarantee absolute security.
11. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, update, delete, restrict or obtain a copy of your personal information, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. You may also unsubscribe from marketing communications using the link provided or by contacting us.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may also have the right to complain to the relevant data-protection authority.
12. Networking directory
Where you select the networking-directory option, the information identified in the form may be shared with other CDS participants for professional networking. You may change this choice by contacting us before the directory is distributed.
13. Cookies and third-party links
The CDS Cookie Policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used. The website may link to third-party websites whose privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
14. Children
The website and programme are intended for adult professionals. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children through the website.
